The Bilbao bookstore Joker has obtained the Cultural Bookstore Award, given by the Confederación Española de Gremios y Asociaciones de Librerías, CEGAL, (Spanish Confederation of Guilds and Associations of Bookstores), ...

with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, for “the merit of celebrating 30 years of being a bookstore specializing in comics in Bilbao and creating a reading community, starting with the little ones.”

The jury highlighted that "the Joker bookstore is always innovating, carrying a design in keeping with the times, avant-garde, and searching for its ways", which makes it a reference not only for illustrators, the graphic world, and comics, but also for a wide variety of audiences of all ages. "The bookseller is cultural day by day; every day he makes the purchasing experience, the interaction with the person, a special moment, an enriching experience for both," highlights the jury, which also encourages the bookstores that were left on the threshold of the award to participate again "because they are all perfect candidates and possible winners."
