Considered “a beautiful and elaborate exercise in creative writing,” the novel “Solo un poco aquí,” (Random House, 2023) by the Colombian writer María Ospina Pizano has been unanimously chosen as the winner of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Literature Prize 2023.
The presentation of this award will take place in November during the celebration of the 37th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair.
After having carefully examined and discussed the works of 106 applicants from thirteen countries, a jury made up of Sara Poot Herrera (Mexico), Diana Sánchez (Mexico) and Daniel Centeno Maldonado (Venezuela), declared that "the most meritorious and important aspect of María Ospina Pizano's novel is that it is dedicated to the living beings that surround us, and that we normally either ignore, eat, or use without thinking.
