Close to twenty books about Chile's independence from Spain are included in La Caja de las Letras del Cervantes.

Since last Thursday, the history and culture of Chile has a place in the Caja de las Letras of the Cervantes Institute, which has received a legacy from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso,..

deposited by Nelson Vásquez Lara, the Dean of the Chilean institution created in 1928.  Specifically, the legacy is made up of twenty books that review the history of the country since its independence from the Spanish Crown, its art, geography, traditions, dances, science, the origin of its cities and its literature.

In this last section, references to two Nobel Prize winners stand out: Pablo Neruda (“Neruda Vuelve a Valparaíso,” by Sara Vial) and Gabriela Mistral (El Chile que soñamos: Gabriela Mistral y Eduardo Frei Montalva,” by Juan Guillermo Prado). There are also three volumes that summarize the almost centenary history of the university itself, and another three on Law. The donated titles are the work of professors from the teaching center and edited by the university itself.
