“Miedo” is the third instalment of the young adult trilogy “Mentira,” written by the Spanish author and literary critic Care Santos.

The work was published in 2019 by the Edebé publishing house, a label that also published the two previous titles: the best seller “Mentira” and its sequel, “Verdad.”

Although the titles seem to represent a horror story, this is nothing more than an excuse to talk about something fundamental: the fear of life.

It is not about the fear caused by elements such as darkness or supernatural beings, but rather the fear of the dangers of a society increasingly corrupted by selfishness and greed. In these spaces, the innocent are judged without any evidence other than an argument, and the abused must fight for their place in the world with all the odds against them.
