“Astillas en la piel” is a book that makes an impact as soon as you read it. Many of Gellida's books are like this, the first chapter leaves you with thousands of unknowns and hooks you. In this case, we have a violent murder, but we don't know who the victim is, who the murderer... Therefore, you end up curious to know what is happening.

In the synopsis itself they don't tell you about this first chapter, so it takes you by surprise (and regardless of what is narrated, it is nice for an author to surprise the readers).
