Celia Filipetto and Carlos Fortea Gil win the Spanish National Translation Awards

Celia Filipetto has been awarded the Spanish National Award for the Work of a Translator, corresponding to the year 2023, and Carlos Fortea Gil, the National Award for the Best Translation, also for 2023,

for his translation of “Los Effingers: una saga berlinesa” (Libros del Asteroide, 2022), by Gabriele Tergit.

The jury has recognized Celia Filipetto "for her extensive professional experience, with more than 300 titles published over four decades dedicated to the practice of literary translation from English, Italian and Catalan, and for expanding the Spanish of our time by having one foot on each shore of the Atlantic.”

Likewise, the jury highlighted "the meticulousness and rigorous search for the precise word. In her work you can appreciate the strength and, at the same time, the subtlety of her translations, capable of shaping the language with elegance to achieve the tone and rhythm appropriate to each original. "Celia Filipetto is an exquisite translator with an admirable and extensive dedication, which has led her to translate different genres, and which she has combined with a career in defense of her peers and the visibility of those who dedicate themselves to translation," added the jury.
