La Vecina Rubia or Ken Follett, the literary new arrivals this October

According to the latest Barómetro de Hábitos de Lectura y Compra de Libros en España 2022, (Barometer of Reading and Book Purchasing Habits in Spain 2022) prepared by the Federation of Publishers' Guilds of Spain (FGEE),

64.8% of Spaniards read books for leisure in their free time in 2022.

This is 5.7% more than in 2012 and 0.4% more than in 2021. These figures show that the increase in readers, which skyrocketed with the coronavirus confinement, still remains at historic highs.

Despite these data, 35.2% of Spaniards never or almost never read, 0.4% less than in 2021. This barometer also shows that women read more than men, especially among those 25 and 34 years old.
