The summer is one of the times of the year when more books are read. Without obligations or schedules, the summer season is the most conducive to "travel" without spending a penny.

According to the latest Barometer of Reading Habits and Book Purchase in Spain 2022, developed by the Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain (FGEE), 64.8% of Spaniards read books for leisure in their free time in 2022. This This is 5.7% more than in 2012 and 0.4% more than in 2021. These figures show that the increase in readers, which skyrocketed with the confinement due to the coronavirus, is still at all-time highs.

Despite these data, 35.2% of Spaniards never or almost never read, 0.4% less than in 2021. This barometer also shows that women read more than men, especially among those aged 25 to 34. By age, those who read the most are between 14 and 24 years of age. Regarding educational levels, 86.5% of university students read in their free time compared to 62.3% for those in highschool.
