Interview with Carmen Sánchez-Risco, author of “La primera mestiza.”

Carmen Sánchez-Risco was born in Trujillo and is a historian specializing in Archaeology. She has worked on national and regional television as a presenter, scriptwriter,

and director producing historical documentaries.

She has now made the leap into literature with a debut novel titled “La primera mestiza.” In this interview she talks about it and several other topics. I appreciate the time taken to give this interview.

ACTUALIDAD LITERATURA: Your latest novel is titled “La primera mestiza.” What can you tell us about it and where did the idea come from?

CARMEN SÁNCHEZ-RISCO: La primera mestiza is a journey to the heart of miscegenation, to the vital and human essence of the meeting of two worlds, the old world, that is, Europe, and the new world, America, the Indies, hand in hand of the first noble mestiza heiress of the Inca imperial force and of the governor of Nueva Castilla, Francisco Pizarro, who was legitimized by the Spanish Crown.
