The journalist and writer Ramón Lobo, one of the great war correspondents of the Spanish press, died this Wednesday in Madrid at the age of 68, a victim of lung cancer, which was diagnosed a year ago.
For two decades, he covered the main international conflicts for this newspaper, from Bosnia and Chechnya to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon, passing through Sierra Leone, Congo, and Rwanda, and he did so with a mixture of humanity and heartbreak, without hiding any detail, no matter how terrible it was, but always trying to maintain the point of view of those who suffer from wars.
