Sales grew again by more than 5% (5.5%) and stood at 2,718.52 million euros. There has been an increase of 15% in the last five years and 11% compared to before the pandemic.
All publishing genres are growing, especially children and young adult literature, 8.6%, and adult fiction, 8.5%.
Publishing production reached 83,091 published titles (57,125 on paper and 25,966 in digital format). The average print run increased slightly (0.6%) to 3,610 copies by title. The industry increased the number of copies sold by four million (178.45 million) and the average price stood at 14.40 euros. “These figures reflect a good moment for the book and reading. Both this report and the Reading Habits Barometer confirm that there is interest in them, which is good news, since the book is a cultural tool with great importance for our development as a society", explains Daniel Fernández, president of the Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain.
