“El tablero de la reina” review by ActualidadLiteratura

This is the new historical novel written by the well-known Spanish historian, engineer, and author Luis Zueco Jiménez, known for books such as “El cirujano de almas.”

The work was published by Ediciones B | B de Books in 2023. To date, the title has met with mixed reviews from critics and the public.

Some of these critics have called the work "feminist," others claim that it is a real great thriller. The first epithet has to do with the fact that, to the surprise of many, this novel by Luis Zueco Jiménez addresses the rise to power of a young Isabel I of Castilla from a point of view beyond history, recounting the misadventures of her and other secondary and fictitious characters that enrich a narrative that has the game of chess as backdrop.
