AL: Your latest novel is entitled “El túnel de Oliva.” What can you tell us about it and where did the idea come from?

JSL: It is a crime novel, but not your typical one. It is not one of those novels where the main objective is to investigate a case, even though there is a death, police officers and a disappearance in the mix. The protagonists are young people from the neighborhood, from a humble background, very creative, who confront their expectations with what reality has to offer them, who know the meaning of mourning, frustration, euphoria, loyalty, and revenge. From them issues such as institutional corruption, organized gangs, drug and diamond trafficking and money laundering are analyzed.
