Artificial intelligence: The publishing sector demands the protection of copyright

The Federation of European Publishers (FEP) calls for measures to protect copyright and greater transparency of the sources used by artificial intelligence.

Book publishing in Italy and Europe is facing the challenges of artificial intelligence. On the one hand, companies are preparing to implement new technologies in the production chain and in Italy the Italian Association of Publishers (AIE), one of the first in Europe, is organizing a training seminar for operators on July 5. On the other hand, the Federation of European Publishers (FEP) calls for measures to protect copyright and greater transparency of the sources used.

"Artificial intelligence will have a great impact on our sector which, in recent decades, has already successfully faced the digital revolution and the rise of electronic commerce", explains the president of AIE and the FEP, Ricardo Franco Levi, "we are facing this new challenge aware of the potential of new technological tools, but also careful to avoid the imposition of economic and technological models that can marginalize and be a disadvantage to publishers compared to large digital groups.
