Actualidad Literatura interviews Yolanda Guerrero, author of the book “El día que mi madre conoció a Audrey”.

Yolanda Guerrero has a long career as a journalist (El País) and in 2017 she published her first novel, “El huracán y la mariposa,” her second book, “Mariela,” followed two years later.

This year “El día que mi madre conoció a Audrey” is published. In this interview she talks about the book and other topics. I really appreciate the time she spent, and the kindness shown on this interview.

AL: Your new novel is entitled “El día que mi madre conoció a Audrey.” What can you tell us about it and where did the idea for it come from?

YG: It wasn't just one idea, but several that I tried to assemble taking a historical moment as a starting point: the 1960s. It was a fascinating time. On the one hand, the winds of freedom were blowing in the form of music, fashion, cinema... On the other, all these winds took longer to reach Spain than to other countries and, when they did, they were screened by the censorship of the Franco era. The Beatles and hedonistic bubbles such as the Marbella that was being born coexisted with acts of international hostility such as the closure, by orders from Franco of the Gibraltar Gate.
