TodoLiteratura interviews Roberto Santiago: "The crime novel is living a golden age right now."

“La rebellión de los buenos,” by Roberto Santiago, has managed to win the Fernando Lara 2023 Novel Prize.

Another crime novel that wins one of the most prestigious literary prizes in the country. There must be something about crime fiction when it manages to win so many awards! "The black crime novel is living a golden age right now," says the Madrid writer in Zaragoza, where he attended an event organized by the Madrid and Zaragoza Book Fairs.

Roberto Santiago knows very well that trends are cyclical and what is up now may soon be down. It makes no difference to him; he is a versatile and successful writer. Spanish bookstores have their shelves full of his children's books from the series "Los futbolísimos" and "Los forasteros del tiempo," among others. But the writer does not stop there, in 2017 he published the thriller "Ana" that recounts some of his personal experiences with the gambling world. It was made for television as "Ana Tramel" and was very successful, so much so that both the series and the novel were bought in different countries.
