The Getafe Negro detective novel festival proposes a journey to the origins of the genre with the United States as the guest of honor.

The XVI edition of Getafe Negro, which will be held from October 20 to 29, has been presented at the Community of Madrid Pavilion in the Book Fair.

"The great news received today is that as a preview of the program, the sixteenth edition will have the United States as the guest of honor country," announced Maica Rivera, director of the Festival. And she has explained why: "'Lo original es volver al origen.’” (the original is to come back to the origin); a phrase attributed to Gaudí that sums up the spirit with which this edition will start. We want to go back to where it all began".

And it all started with Raymond Chandler and Dashiel Hammett, which makes them the undisputed protagonists of an edition that will also have space for figures such as Jim Thompson and Patricia Highsmith and a well-deserved tribute to the master Edgar Allan Poe, to whom he makes a noble reference from the beginnings, since the white raven is the iconic and much-loved emblem of the Madrid crime novel festival, Getafe Negro, thus broadening the limits of the Festival to the point of terror and linking, for yet another year, with other themes especially related to Halloween.
