Ebooks and audiobooks grow more than printed books in the Spanish market.

Subscription platforms account for ? of total audiobook sales in Spanish-speaking markets.

The two main distribution platforms in the Spanish Markets, Bookwire and Libranda, have published their respective annual reports on the evolution of the Spanish digital market during 2022.

Both reports indicate that digital content in the Spanish Markets enjoy very healthy growth rates, between 5.7% and 4% in the case of income from the sale of ebooks; and between 52.81% and 50% in the case of audiobooks. These figures exceed the sale of printed books, which has only grown 1.1% in 2022 compared to 2021, according to the report by the Federation of Publishers Guilds and GFK.

The evolution of the Bookwire platform has been spectacular in the last three years in the Spanish-speaking markets. In 2019, the Bookwire catalog barely represented 45,000 titles, but by the end of 2022 it managed to almost triple, distributing more than 122,000 and aspiring to close this 2023 with more than 140,000 titles belonging to 1,200 publishing labels in the Spanish-language markets.
