Her work 'Clamor en la memoria,' a tribute to her life in the company of her husband, who recently died, has been awarded the National Critics Award.
The 94-year-old poet wrote a book to remember the long decades that she lived with her husband, whom she met during university days, and with whom she had four children. They still told eachother “I love you”. The collection of poems, entitled ‘Clamor en la memoria’ (Renacimiento), has been distinguished this year with the National Critics Award in the poetry category.
It was a book that she needed to write to somehow fill the absence of someone who was always there, the one who was a lover, friend and support, the person with whom she shared readings and a sense of humor. They had a lot in common: Salvador never knew his mother, Dionisia lost hers when she was but two years old. "The darkness that has befallen me will never go away," she laments.
