It is a privileged forum for relations with other Ministries of Culture with a view to developing policies to promote reading, consolidation and respect for copyright and the free circulation of books in the region.
Spain, through the Ministry of Culture and Sports, will chair the executive committee of the Regional Center for the Promotion of Books in Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLALC) until May 2024. This was unanimously decided yesterday by the six states that comprise it.
CERLALC is an intergovernmental organization, based in Colombia, created in 1971 under the auspices of UNESCO, whose objective is to create environments for the development of reading societies.
