In the library of the Irish Hispanist Ian Gibson: "Lorca saved me from despair."

Ian Gibson (Dublin, 1939) found in Spain the greatest romantic adventure of his life. Our country gave him a vocation and helped him to be freer.

At eighty-four years old, but with the same sparkle in his eyes as when he was a child, he is more aware of this today than ever.

“Lorca saved me from despair. My brother ended his days in a clinic in Germany, he was a manic depressive, and I have that same seed planted in my person. I don't know what would have happened to me without Federico...”, he says, leaving the question hanging in the air in the video of this new episode of “En la biblioteca de.”

In his small apartment in the Madrid neighborhood of Lavapiés, the Hispanist is surrounded by his essential books, in which, no matter how much time passes, he always finds refuge. However, those who have accompanied him in his research and travels remain on file at the Federico García Lorca House-Museum, in Fuente Vaqueros.
