This work is a compilation of opinion articles published in the art section of El Diario NTR between 2015 and 2019 under the name “Letra bastarda.”
In them, the proofreader and editor Felipe Ponce shares his personal and professional experiences, from his first encounters with literature, the discoveries and misadventures in his formation and the establishment of Arlequín, one of the mythical independent publishers from Guadalajara.
Readers will be able to learn about the prosperity and adversities of the local and national publishing industry and its transformation together with society, the transition to the immediacy of the digital age, as well as the counterpart: the dark side of public officials, the "destructive face of centralism, bureaucracy and corruption» and the constant tension between the local and the transnational.
Felipe Ponce was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1973. He studied letters at the University of Guadalajara. He was a scholarship holder of the IV Ibero-American Editors Training Course (Complutense University of Madrid and SIALE, 2004). He founded and co-directs the publishers Arlequín and Página Seis.
