The General Directorate for Books and Reading Promotion of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, after a meeting with the Library Cooperation Council held in Palma de Mallorca, has announced that the XI National Congress of Public Libraries will be held next October in Pamplona.

The Europeana meeting, a digital library of European cultural historical material that is offered to researchers, professionals and teachers will be held at the same time.

Both events will take place at the Navarra Baluarte Conference Center and Auditorium on October 18th, 19th and 20th, under the title 'Democracy, reading and the right to information'.

Congresses of this nature are convened every two years to analyze the national panorama regarding public libraries. Professionals from all the autonomous communities come to these functions to assess an in-depth analysis of the library situation which helps to establish the lines of work for the future.
