Mercedes Fisteus returns with a fictional essay entitled

Mercedes Fisteus, the winner of the Young Ateneo de Sevilla in 2019 with her novel “Dentro de dos años,” set during the famous Salem trials, returns with a novel essay entitled “La hechicera errante.”

The witch in the legends and the popular imagination. The result of years of research, this essay finally brings together all the stories of witchcraft in the world.

It is a fictional essay that tells the evolution of magic and witchcraft through the experiences of its protagonist, an immortal sorceress who narrates in first person her travels throughout the world, from the earliest ages and the ancient civilizations to the present day, going through all the continents and stopping at special places, among them Spain, which the author defines as "the country of witches". Through the experiences of this sorceress, we will understand what the witch is from a universal perspective, for which myths, legends, explanations, and numerous artistic references are collected.
