The guide has a selection of the almost 4,000 titles that made up its private library.
On the 180th anniversary of the birth of Benito Pérez Galdós, on May 10th, 1843, the BNE has published and made available for users and readers the Bibliographic Guide of the Pérez Galdós library, with a selection of almost 4,000 titles that made up his personal library.
This guide to the Pérez Galdós library shows his eclectic fondness for books, which, beyond literature, included especially History and Geography, and Philosophy and Science. The nearly 4,000 titles he collected include autographed copies, gifts from colleagues and institutions, and all kinds of materials in various genres and formats.
For the elaboration of the Bibliographic Guide of the Pérez Galdós library, some outstanding and distinct works of the various genres represented have been selected, divided as purely literary works, which accounted for half of the collection, and others dedicated to Sciences and Humanities. The editions that appear in the Guide, belonging to the collections of the National Library of Spain, are the same ones that were present in the Galdós library, and whenever possible a link to the digitized version of the work has been included.
