Abel Posse, the intellectual who rewrote the tragic adventures of Argentine history, from the Conquest to the dictatorship, has died.

At the age of 89, the writer Abel Posse, renowned novelist and essayist, member of the Argentine Academy of Letters (AAL) and the National Academy of Education,

and corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy, has passed away.  His literary work was characterized by his expressive and imaginative richness.

Born in Córdoba on January 7, 1934, he received a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires (where he taught at the Faculty of Law, in the chair of Political Law of Dr. Carlos Fayt, which he resigned in 1966, after the coup d'état of General Onganía) and a PhD in Political Science from the Sorbonne University in Paris. From 1966 to 2004 he continuously served as a diplomat. He was Minister Plenipotentiary of Argentina in Israel, and Ambassador to Czechoslovakia, Peru, Denmark, and Spain. The writer passed away due to complications originating from a kidney ailment.
