Cervantes award ceremony for the Venezuelan poet Rafael Cadenas

The 93-year-old poet is the first Venezuelan writer to receive the Cervantes Prize

In the reception speech before the King and Queen of Spain, he said to be committed to reinforcing democracy, reinventing it, and strengthening it against extremism.

"This is an honor beyond me," said the poet Rafael Cadenas, in the auditorium of the University of Alcalá de Henares. He is the first Venezuelan author (essayist, translator) to receive the Cervantes Prize.
