Inauguration of the Cervantina Week

The 2022 Miguel de Cervantes Prize for Literature in the Spanish Language will be awarded on April 24.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the General Directorate for Books and Reading Promotion, inaugurated on Monday, April 17, the Cervantina Week: more than seven days of cultural activities to celebrate World Book Day and Author’s Copyrights Day, which will be observed on Sunday, April 23.

The events began with the launch of the 2023 Book Day poster and the traditional display of commemorative banners in the different official languages of the State, which have been hung in the exterior walls of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Conceptualized from verses written by the winner of the last Cervantes Prize, Rafael Cadenas, the poster has been designed by the illustrator Sergio García Sánchez, National Illustration Award 2022, with the collaboration of Lola Moral, responsible for adding color to the illustrations.

The 2022 Miguel de Cervantes Spanish Language Literature Award ceremony will be held on April 24, awarded to Rafael Cadenas. The event will take place in the Auditorium of the University of Alcalá de Henares and will be presided by the King and Queen of Spain
