The functions of the presidency will be assumed by the director of the FIL, Marisol Schulz.

As of the 2023 edition and for the remainder of the term of the President of the University of Guadalajara (until 2025), Dr. Ricardo Villanueva Lomelí announced that he will not exercise his power to appoint the president of the International Book Fair (FIL) of Guadalajara.

In the form of a tribute, the place of the presidency in the FIL Guadalajara will remain empty.  The responsibilities will be assumed by the director, Marisol Schulz and all the great work team of the fair.  “It is like when a sports team withdraws the number of a historic player, to remember their exploits and underline that the player is irreplaceable. That is what Mr. Raúl Padilla is for us: irreplaceable. That is why I have made this decision”, said Ricardo Villanueva.
