The publishing sector has experienced numerous changes during its history. One of the most significant takes place during the decade of the sixties of the last century, in which the cultural vision that characterized publishing companies until then began to turn towards the commercial, producing a series of modifications that continue to be seen, or have currently increased. A series of characteristics are grouped into bestsellers: their commercial nature, their massive sales, and their interest in internationalization.

In addition, two more factors should be added that serve to identify them: the transformation of the author into a brand, in such a way that there is a displacement from the name to the work, and its absorbing and compulsive nature: the bestseller is designed to catch the reader in a process of almost temporary and emotional dependence.
