Fernando Sánchez Dragó, writer for television and controversy, dies at the age of 86

The novelist and journalist, author of more than 40 titles and winner of various awards, including the National Literature Award, has died of a heart attack, according to sources close to him.

The writer, journalist, publicist, public figure, mystic, alleged satyr, and cat lover, died of a heart attack this Monday at the age of 86 in his home in Castilfrío de la Sierra (Soria), the place where for two long decades he sought withdrawal from the world and the rediscovery of his roots. And where, at the time of his death, he was with his current partner, Emma Nogueiro. Author of more than 40 titles, he produced novels, essays, and memoirs. His book, “Gargoris y Habidis. Una historia mágica de España” (Hyperion), won the 1979 National Essay Award.
