José Zoilo wins the Edhasa 2023 award

The stone border has been the winning work. The novelist José Zoilo has been awarded the VI Edhasa Historical Narratives Award thanks to the novel La frontera de piedra, which is already in bookstores.

For the jury, Zoilo's work, which has the battle of Adrianople as its plot axis, is “a magnificent evocation of a very interesting but little-known era: the fall of the Roman Empire, on its eastern border. Written with historical rigor, the characters stand out in it, which are diverse and rich, the epic tone, the excellent dialogues, and the ability to drag the deepest human feelings into the historical-war genre.

It is a story about the demographic pressure of the Germanic peoples on the Roman Empire and how the inhabitants and the authorities of those lands responded to that crisis.
