Raúl Padilla López distinguished himself by the impulse he gave to the promotion of art and culture.

Last Sunday, April 2nd, the president and founder of the Guadalajara International Book Fair died at his home. The organization of the fair has issued a statement highlighting the cultural heritage of Padilla.

«The Guadalajara International Book Fair regrets the sensitive death of Raúl Padilla López (1954-2023), founder and president of our Organizing Committee and one of the most important cultural promoters in the country, recognized throughout the world for his contributions. to international dialogue.

Since his university period, Raúl Padilla López distinguished himself by the impulse he gave to the promotion of art and culture. In the mid-seventies he was director of the Cine-Club de Arte and promoter of the magazines A and Omeyotl from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Guadalajara (UDG). Since then, the interests that would mark two of his main legacies for the cultural life of the city, the state and the country were already prefigured: cinema and literature.
