The writer Fernando Benzo Sáinz has been awarded the 2023 Azorín Novel Prize, for his work 'Los perseguidos'.

He narrates the story of Daniela and Dardo, in a novel that portrays the development of drug trafficking, drug use and political corruption in Spain. It is a fast-paced action novel, with intrigue and social accusations, which alternates between the marginal world and that of journalism and politics.

The contest, promoted by the Alicante Provincial Council and the Planeta publishing house, is endowed with 45,000 euros and was announced this Thursday at a gala held at the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium (ADDA).
