The Observatorio of the Instituto Cervantes at Harvard University is sending out a call for papers for the “Translaciones literarias/Literary Shifts” section of its monthly publication Estudios del Observatorio/Observatory Studies.
The section is dedicated to the reception and translation, in the United States, of works or authors from the Spanish-speaking world. Each issue of “Translaciones literarias/Literary Shifts” presents and analyzes pecific aspects of the studied author or work in the North American context, such as their reception in various contexts (academic research, literary criticism, the media, etc.), their translators and translations, retranslations, the editorial process, the space they occupy in the education system, etc. The issues published in this section so far are available here.

With this Call for Papers we announce a new line of research within “Translaciones literarias/Literary Shifts,” Rewriting Hispanic Literature in the 21st-Century United States, which will be mainly focused on the translation and reception in the current century, though the works and authors studied may come from any historical period within Hispanic literature.
