171 originals participate in this edition in the children's category and 118 in the young adult category. The winner of the XXXI Edebé Award will be announced on January 26.
Perhaps one of the main singularities of the Award is that the candidates participating have written their works in four languages: Spanish (243), Catalan (37), Galician (6) and Basque (3). Throughout the 30 previous editions, 41 works have been awarded in Spanish, 15 in Catalan and 3 in Galician.
The origin of the novels is very diverse, with representation from all the autonomous communities. Those that have sent a greater number of originals have been Madrid (with 92) and Catalonia (with 51). They are followed by Andalusia (with 32), the Community of Valencia (with 12), Aragón (with 10), Galicia (with 9), the Basque Country (with 8) and Extremadura (with 3). This year original works from Latin America have also arrived: Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay, and Chile.
