"I've never understood why back books don't have better trading terms than novelties."

Bookstores have begun to recover their full activity after the pandemic. Reading workshops, book presentations, the day-to-day life of a bookstore have returned... At Publishnews we wanted to know a little more about the present and short-term future of bookstores and for this reason, we have relied on Enrique Pascual, president of the Madrid Bookstores Guild and bookseller in the Marcial Pons bookstores.

In a year in which we have recovered almost the total normality that COVID-19 took from us, how has progress been reflected in bookstores?

The bookstores have recovered their routines, which, as you indicate, were taken from us during the pandemic. Activities have returned, perhaps even more strongly, as there was a great desire to serve as connectors once again between authors and their readers and, on the other hand, the influx of public to our establishments continues to surprise us for the better.
