You can now visit "El Taller de Saramago" to celebrate the Centenary of the Nobel

The Saramago Workshop can be visited in the Sala de Guillotinas in the National Library of Spain until January 8th, 2023.

The National Library of Spain, in coordination with the National Library of Portugal and the José Saramago Foundation, and with the support of the Embassy of Portugal and Cultura Portugal, organizes El Taller de Saramago, (The Saramago Workshop), a bibliographical and documentary exhibition that traces the vital and artistic trajectory of the Nobel Prize for Literature, José Saramago.

For Ana Santos Aramburo, director of the National Library of Spain, "Saramago's work continuously challenges us and is endowed with a profound ethical sense that speaks to us about life and the principles that should enlighten it."

The Saramago Workshop is based on a solid idea: literary writing is a job with different material implications and its setting is the writer's workshop, an intimate space in which solitary work is carried out supported by informative elements of various kinds.
