Since the publishing of the biography written by Luis Astrana Marín (1889-1959), “Vida Ejemplar y heroica de Miguel de Cervantes” (1948-58), scholars had to wait 67 years, which is, until the first decade of the 21st century to enjoy the boom of the new documents about Cervantes, brilliant outstanding soldier of the Special Forces of the Spanish Old Tercios, and his related characters.

Said work par excellence, distributed in seven volumes written in 4,202 pages, consists of 3,387 entries, which were identified for the first time, 62 years after its print run, and edited by Krzysztof Sliwa in his “Bibliografía de Vida ejemplar y heroica de Miguel de Cervantes” (2010), with a foreword by Irish biographer Donald P. McCrory.
