The Premio de las Letras Aragonesas recognizes Javier Sierra's work in the areas of literary creation and research.

At the proposal of the Provincial Association of Booksellers of Teruel, Javier Sierra has been awarded this prize for «being a great writer, researcher, and humanist.  His work has been awarded, recognized, and translated throughout the world for making literature an instrument to bring young people closer to culture, carrying out, through these activities a decisive support for the role of libraries, as centers of utmost cultural promotion, and for bringing the founding culture of our territory to all citizens of Aragon," informs the government of Aragon in a press release.

The prize is endowed with €10,000, contributed entirely by Viñedos y Crianzas del Alto Aragón S.A. Javier Sierra was the winner of the 2017 Planeta Award for “El fuego invisible.” Likewise, he is the only contemporary author who has managed to place his work in the United States best sellers list.
