On October 24, School Library Day is celebrated for the first time; an initiative organized by the Asociación Española de Amigos del Libro Infantil y Juvenil (Spanish Association of Friends of Children and Young Adult Books)

together with ANELE, and which has also had the collaboration of the Ministry of Education and Professional Training.

The Minister of Education and Professional Training, Pilar Alegría, has congratulated «all educational centers that are committed to a working school library, integrated into their educational project. A library where your students can build on what they've worked on in the classroom, personalize their learning, find the resources that spark their curiosity, and discover answers to their questions. I also congratulate the teachers and families who, each year, make it possible for these libraries to be those spaces of freedom where future generations prepare themselves».

To celebrate this day, the organization has created a brochure with information on articles, books, and web pages with reading recommendations for children and young adults.
