Liber 2022 highlights as positive the bibliodiversity of the Spanish publishing industry

The book industry, the leading cultural industry in Spain, had a turnover of 2,576.70 million euros last year and published 79,373 titles, according to data from the Federación de Gremios de Editores de España, FGEE, (Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain).

The first of the professional conferences of the International Book Fair, Liber, which takes place from October 5 to 7 at Fira de Barcelona, ??has served to analyze the bibliodiversity of the Spanish publishing sector.  There is a multitude of opportunities which companies must take advantage of in innovation to improve book marketing, both inside and outside our borders.  This year conferences will bring together,130 speakers who participate in 53 sessions, speaking and analyzing the trends and challenges of the industry.

Currently, there are 3,716 'active' publishers in Spain, that is, they have published at least one title in recent years, according to the Dilve platform. Although it is true that among them are those registered by municipalities, foundations and associations, the Spanish publishing ecosystem is characterized by its bibliodiversity. Another important piece of information highlighted during the fair is the following: out of all the active publishers, 18% offer 80% of the books on the market, and 14% have published 80% of the titles in the during the year.
