The 2021/2022 Cultural Habits and Practices Survey highlights a favorable reading behavior, especially in digital format.

The Ministry of Culture and Sport publishes the Survey of Cultural Habits and Practices in Spain 2021-2022, an official statistical operation included in the National Statistical Plan, which is done every three years. The research by survey has been carried out by the División de Estadística y Estudios de la Secretaría General Técnica (the Statistics and Studies Division of the General Technical Commission) addressed to a poll of 16,000 individuals, from age 15 and over, who have been selected by Instituto Nacional de Estadística, INE (National Statistics Institute).

The indicators of this edition, which runs during the period of March 2021 to February 2022, are still affected by the COVID-19 crisis, thus confirming the strong impact of the pandemic on the cultural sector. Consequently, a lower level of cultural practices is still observed from those registered in the previous edition of the Survey, the one corresponding to the 2018-2019 period, which showed maximum cultural participation in all categories.
