Cristina Araújo wins the Tusquets Prize with a novel about a gang rape

'Mira a esa chica' is the first book by the Madrid-born author based in Frankfurt. "I want to write things that people don't dare to say they think it," she says.

A novel that begins as a teenage story at the end of a summer and that takes a dramatic turn to end up narrating the consequences of the sexual assault that a young woman suffers by a group of boys. The audacious puzzle proposed by debuting novelist Cristina Araújo Gámir (Madrid, 42 years old) in ‘Mira a esa chica,’ is made up of many pieces: of the before, after, the different points of view of classmates, the thoughts of the aggressors, and of parents and other adults (doctors, lawyers).
