Pere Gimferrer will receive the Homenaje Liber 2022 Tribute for his career and work as a publisher

The versatile Pere Gimferrer will receive the Homenaje Liber 2022 Tribute granted by the Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain (FGEE) for his career as an editor.

A special award that emphasizes "his remarkable work in the field of literary publishing, combined with his career as a poet, prose writer, essayist, critic, translator and academic of the language." This recognition of Gimferrer by the book industry will take place at the Liber Awards ceremony on October 6 at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC).

Known especially for his poetic work and considered one of the most unique characters in the cultural world, Pere Gimferrer (Barcelona, ??1945) is also an outstanding publisher. He began in this field in 1970 as head of the literary section of Seix Barral and, in 1981, he was appointed literary director of the publishing house, a position he has held ever since. Throughout these more than 50 years, he has decisively contributed to the discovery of writers such as Eduardo Mendoza, Antonio Muñoz Molina, Julio Llamazares, Roberto Bolaño and Isaac Rosa, among others, and has been the editor of Rafael Alberti, Octavio Paz, Vicente Aleixandre and Juan Goytisolo.

Likewise, he is a member of the jury of important literary prizes such as the Planeta Prize, the Fernando Lara Prize, the Biblioteca Breve Prize, and the Ramon Llull Prize in the Catalan language.
