The narrative of secret agents seemed like an Anglo-Saxon treasure until Spanish spies and former spies have begun to publish books whose objective is to transmit authenticity and tell what intelligence is like in our country in a credible way.

Tell without telling. These three words, in addition to “espionage with ñ”, are the ones that can be found in the Twitter biography of a man we only know by his pseudonym, Pablo Zarrabeitia. Behind the Basque surname and the common name hides an active secret agent from the Centro Nacional de Inteligencia – CNI (National Intelligence Center), the Spanish CIA, with more than 20 years of experience, who one day decided that the time had come to write about it. What he did not know then is that he shared his claim with many others and that, little by little, one could speak of the birth and development of a Spanish-style spy novel that can well be differentiated from the classic noir or police novel.
