Carmen Conde Abellán was born in Cartagena (Murcia) on August 15th, 1907. She worked as a rural teacher and founded the Popular University of her city
She was a friend of Azorín, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Miguel Hernández, María Cegarra, or Vicente Aleixandre and Antonio Buero Vallejo.
She studied literature with Dámaso Alonso and published prose and verse. She was the first woman to enter as a full academician at the Royal Spanish Academy in 1979 and held the K chair. Among her works, some titles are Lives against her mirror (novel) or Blow that goes and does not return (stories). These are some poems chosen as a reminder to her memory.
