The writer from Cáceres, Eugenio Fuentes, has presented his latest novel “Perros mirando al cielo,” during the Noir Week in Gijón.

The main character, Ricardo Cupido, returns to this new novel in his role of police work.

The novel takes place in what we now call empty Spain. “I don't like to say that Spain has been emptied because the lack of people is replaced with animals. Today there is more livestock than a few years ago,” says the author.

Eugenio Fuentes acknowledged that his new novel was written very quickly. “It went very smoothly. What happened during the confinement was unbelievable. In this novel I wanted to deal with how various ethical decisions were made. Doctors had to make decisions that affected the lives of patients. For example, if there were two patients and only one ventilator, they had to decide who to save.”
