The council of ministers has agreed, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, to initiate the processing of the preliminary bill for the creation of the Spanish Office of Copyright and Related Rights.

The objective is to reinforce the administrative activity that corresponds to the State in the field of intellectual property in an efficient manner, improving the current structure.

Copyright and related rights are the key regulatory system on which the fabric of companies and professionals that make up the cultural industries are based, one of the main assets of the Spanish cultural sector.
