Lucía R. is part of the 75.9% of Spanish women who read. Her age group is the one who reads the most Spain, and they do so more often than men at any age. This is what the latest study of reading and buying book habits conducted by the Federación de Gremios de Editores de España (Federation of Publishers Guilds in Spain) has determined.
The confinement has improved the statistics. According to the survey on which the report is based, 67.9% of the Spanish population read books, and 64.4% do so for leisure, not because of a work or academic obligation. And women not only read more, but also listen to audiobooks more often, a practice that is also seen in the Anglo-Saxon market. In Spain, this percentage has risen 2 points in the last year.
